Be Yourself {Beauty Philosophy}

This is the first post sent by one of my regular readers, Rahma. Hope you like it and trust me when I say we both are holding our breaths for the verdict :D So, go ahead and let us know how you like the post and what could be better. Also, if you have any specific topic which you want to be written on, you can mention that. And, looking forward to your posts as well :)

Most of the people around me and including me too have the same problem. We are, like, always having some or the other inferiority complex. Some people have the feeling they are not fair, some think they are not thin or not stylish enough.

We all try our whole life only to impress people around us. We are the people-pleaser material. Sometimes, we go to the extent of even doing stupid stuff like  we  buy the advertisement products and apply it which  sometimes  results in  adverse affects.

People who are fat on the other hand go to the extent of dieting for like weeks   until they become way too lethargic. We value others opinion so much and get affected. I mean we hear since childhood "BE YOURSELF" but  every time we try to be us we get comments and we tend to be something which we are not.

Truth to be told: if you don’t love yourself, why should anyone else? Although lots of people will love you even if you don’t, your relationships will be much healthier and far more stable if you do [love yourself]. Try to work out what is stopping you from being confident.

And, then try to overcome these issues. If you have low body confidence, taking up a sport is a good idea because it will make you think about your body differently. Actually, that's a damn good suggestion, Rahma, because doing something new always changes our perceptions and teaches us new things :)

If you feel too shy, then push your boundaries by doing something new or something independently. I think we all, for once, should follow our hearts and be content the way we are. If people around us can’t accept us the way we are, is it right that we want to be with them?

BE Content for who you are and not what others want us to be. Let go of concerns and focus on building talent and figuring out your strengths. Since it’s my first post, I would really appreciate some comments on this whether my writing was good or not. And, if you liked the post or not.

Walk softly and quietly {Grooming}

Yes, we shall start on grooming lessons. I thought this would make an interesting series for all to read. The idea came to me when I observed that one of the girls staying with me always makes noise while walking up and down the stairs. Well, when you are wearing slippers, its pretty obvious, it will make noise.

But, I have also noticed that many people tend to drag their feet while walking. Now, that's a habit I love to do occasionally for fun and my mom shouts on me. Yes, its ingratiating on other's nerves who listen to your dragging footwear. And, not only that, the way you walk tells a lot about your personality.

No one like clip-clopping heels or noisy steps. In fact, it makes you look careless, slouchy and irresponsible. Yes, you might look elegant and sophisticated but once people listen to the way you walk, everything goes out of window. So, don't make people listen to the way you walk, let them just watch!

This becomes even more important in a professional environment. Get your heels fitted with rubber soles. Or, choose a lighter footwear which doesn't make noise. Flipflops make lot of noise so watch out where you are wearing them. Don't try to turn attention to the kind of shoes you are wearing by the way you walk!! That's not flattering at all. Not even in a party.

I did read that clicking heels sound and look authoritative and the mark of a POWERFUL WOMAN. Ok, not in my opinion (unless you own a fashion magazine or some such thing, no bias or sarcasm to fashion world but that's where clicking heels sound good for me, remember The Devil Wears Prada??) but that's my problem!! And, the heels have to click in sync and rhythmic and calming manner for that POWERFUL impression so do practice how to walk properly in them.

So, do you walk lightly or heavily or love to make noise when walking? I, for myself, like to walk softly. I don't like to be centre of attention ever. I'm more of a sneaking-into-the-corner kind of girl.

Grooming Lessons Vol. 3 - Don't drag your feet!

I am continuing with this series after a long time. And, honestly, when I think, the lessons or the entire series sound condescending to me! It might project out an image as if I know things better than you and that it makes me in a position to advise you.

But, let me tell you that neither is that the case nor is such my intention! In fact, in reality, I am never the best dressed person in a regular routine. I am too lazy for that and I just pick anything in front of me. But, yes, there are certain habits which are better if avoided.

So, I would like to talk about such habits. And, please do not be judging on this series. It is something I am doing for fun, to remind myself to avoid certain things and also to help people remember what they might be doing wrong.

Btw, most of the people know what their short-comings are. Its just that either they hate being reminded of it or they are too lazy to change it! And, some do it sub-consciously. So, lets just go ahead!

Please do not drag your feet
This is something my mom absolutely detests and she always scolds me those few times I do it. In fact, I can empathize with her now that I regularly hear someone else dragging their feet. No doubt it is sure fun to drag feet but it sure is as hell irritating for other's ears.

Plus, it gives a very wrong notion of your personality. Dragging your feet literally means you are careless and you have no motto in life. Or, it can also put your forward as a sickly person. And, that is definitely what you do not want to project, irrespective of the truth!

Analyzing the Body Language is something which comes naturally to all humans and we are used to summing up and judging the person and it is a human nature to exaggerate the negatives they can find then and there! So, better not give another negative to add to which is simply non-ingratiating.

What's your Say?
