 photo IMG_8702_zps3ef07189.jpg

Hey Everyone! It has been really long since I have shared the products in my shelf with you all. So, I thought it would be a good exercise to start with the essential oils first. Most of the essential oils I buy from a wholesale retailer Moksha lifestyle and I love Kama ayurveda essential oils as well thought they are very expensive!!

Kama Ayurveda's
  • French Cypress - no idea what it really does but smells heavenly!
  • Peppermint - best for hair growth!
  • Lavender - not sure if it really suits me but it helps in soothing the nerves, calms the mind and helps one sleep. also helps in hair growth and oil balancing. can be applied neat on skin.
  • Ylang Ylang - I love this! and, helps in hair growth.
  • Tea Tree - keeps away pests and mosquitoes and helps with any skin problem. can be applied neat like lavender.

Moksha
  • Rosemary - helps in hair growth.
  • Patchouli - smells beautiful. apparently can be used as perfume if used as perfume oil.
  • Cinnamon Bark - helps in hair growth but can be irritating on skin if used in excess.
  • Ginger - stimulates circulation and helps in hair growth.
  • Cedar Wood - no idea again but smells good.
  • Frankincense - second favourite in essential oils. one of the best essential oils to be used in diffuser.

  • Afrazan's Palmarosa - can be used as a substitute for rose essential oil.
So, what do you say?

My Hair Diary - August 2013

So, August was quite a lazy time for me whether in case of skin or hair. I did practically nothing for my hair except one treatment of Lush Caca Maroon. And, the tip of the month is to apply aloevera gel to contain flyaways and frizzy hair!! Works like a charm for me :) Let me put forward some of the questions I received on the last hair diary entry I had done.

Do you use any essential oils for your hair like rosemary or lavender?
Yes, actually! I have started using essential oils last year and I do very strongly believe that they have helped my hair a lot.

I love rosemary and that is my most extensively used essential oil. It has definitely helped improve the health of my hair and scalp.

Peppermint is another essential oil which is supposed to be amazing for hair growth. And, if you do get, thyme as well. I somehow have not liked any lavender essential oil till date.

Do you do the scalp treatment daily or just after every hair wash?
Well, I do believe that any scalp treatment should be done only after the hair has been freshly washed otherwise you will facilitate the hair to get even more dirtier by accumulating products on the scalp. Also, dirty scalp does not allow proper absorption of products so no point in wasting them then.

Well, there were these two questions last month! If you do have doubts, you can drop in the comments or send me mail and I shall answer them as well as post the detailed answers in the next month hair diary. And, now to the products I used.

Tea Tree Oil for Lice and Dandruff {Hair Care}

A few days back I mentioned that my dandruff and hair loss both are in control or let me say less considerably. But, I forgot to mention about Tea Tree EO. Well, it works amazingly for scars and acne and other breakouts as reported by those who tried it so I thought I would give a try on the scalp.

Since tea tree oil is an antiseptic, it is able to fight the infections and the bacteria. And, thus, an amazing deterrent for lice and dandruff. Tea Tree EO can be applied directly on the skin as well which is why I use a couple of drops (2-5) on the scalp and the hair length.

The fragrance of the oil is enough to keep away the adult lice and kills the young lice when the eggs hatch. Also, it controls the oil production on the scalp and keeps it moisturized. Tea Tree Oil is best for oily scalp but dry scalp can also benefit from it. Mixing tea tree and lavender EO's, both of which can be directly applied to skin, will help with hair growth and stimulate the blood circulation.

But, be cautious in the amount of EO's used as they are ultimately pure essences and can cause irritation if used in excess. Also, people with eczema and psoriasis and such skin disorders should never apply any essential oil on the skin directly.

Have you use tea tree oil for hair problems?

My Hair Diary - January 2014

Huh....I have been too busy to take care of my skin or my hair!! Ok, that is not entirely correct and no one is really so busy that they do not have time to do something they really want. If you want to do something, you will always find a way for it.

Anyways, coming to the point, I found that the hair diary series has been ignored since October. I do not think I did anything specific for the hair during the past three months. When I was in home, I used my mom's oil and the kamini shampoo. When in Hyderabad, I simply neglected my hair. When in Vizag, I got one hair spa done just before the wedding and used to use some oil which was made by one of my cousin which was also pretty good. Have to ask the recipe!!

After the wedding started my hair woes. I caught lice from my niece :( Poor girl is suffering from a major case of lice and apparently nothing is working out. I did not stay long enough to actually know her case or propose any solution to her.

Later I got dandruff as well coz of extremely dry hair. I have not used conditioner since December and have oiled my hair like 2-3 times in the entire month before leaving for Delhi. So, you can imagine the hair to be just like jhadooo (a broomstick). My entire December I spent my hair scratching. And, O started facing a major case of hair fall.

Once I came to Delhi, my mom took care of the lice issue and my hair felt a little better with regular oiling. Since then I have made the resolution to take better care of the hair. So, in my case, regular oiling has definitely shown a marked improvement in dryness of the hair, the dandruff and also the hair fall. I think the hair fall was due to dandruff.
