5 things not worth Stressing Over! {Health}

what things are not worth stressing about at perfect skin care for you

PS: And, keeping in mind the extremely stressful bridal season, I have guest posted the top 10 tips for brides at zuri.in. So, do not forget to check that out :)

So, the last few days have been quite irritable for me taking into account that I have not been well lately and also because I ended up causing too much damage to our vehicle and regretting over it. And, that one incident itself resulted in almost a one and half day of non-productivity!!

The worse is that when we are in creative jobs instead of the routine ones, a lot of our productivity depends on what kind of mood we are in, at least it does for me. Which is why I can write a lot of posts in one stretch and none in another!! Well, finally, since I got over my non-productive stretch, I am trying to do everything to not to run into that rut again!! And, that is why I have decided to post only thrice a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday so that I am not stressed about writing posts everyday!!

So, let us check out what are some of the things which are really not worth a dime to stress over! And, probably that will help you as well to deal with some of the everyday things in a positive way!!

Materialistic Things

Recently, I ended up banging my car. I have a history with electronic items, whether it is a mobile or laptop, nothing lasts with me for more than 6 months in perfect and pristine conditions.

I have changed more than 4 laptops in last 3 years!! My present one does not have a battery, the speakers were damaged within a year of buying it, the control key came out within a month and, oh yes, the left hinge is broken!!

Lately, something went wrong with my vaccum cleaner! And, the coolers I buy never seem to last. Somehow, my Sony Xperia is still managing well but it has suffered from some scratches :(

So, now, even if I go and buy something, I always let someone else choose the piece which I want to buy!! Absolutely essential for me if I want them to be in better condition. Anyways, jokes apart, if I started getting stressed about all these things, I would never get any work done.

So, I would only say these things are really not worth stressing about. So, relax and enjoy. If your laptop has conked out, take a day off the internet and really enjoy your real world. Go and read a book. You would definitely love the change.

Your Dreams

This is a personal observation. Yes, you should work your ass off for your dreams and aspirations but never lose sleep over it. Dreams and goals are supposed to make you feel good, not stressful. They are a place which makes you blissfully happy and ignites you with the passion of doing more.

But, if they start stressing you, remember that probably you should ease off a bit and enjoy life more so that when your dream really comes true, you will not forget to be happy. Nothing is worth your happiness, not even your dreams. So, take a break.

Learning Something New

Unless you are a student and have to clear an exam, learning should not be a difficult process. It should be fun. And, remember, that life itself is a learning platform so you are learning every single second.

So, if you are really forcing yourself to do something, may be you do not have an aptitude for it or you might just not like it!! Worse still, it can be your choice of career as well.

Just remember that make learning fun instead of stressing over it. You can find newer ways to accomplish the thing you are trying. For example, you really want to learn swimming but whenever it is time for classes, you find yourself making all the excuses, may be its just not worth it or just go with it and may be you will have fun at the end of it :)

Regret

Ok, so, this is one thing I would say NEVER to have. In fact, I have followed it up after learning something new (above point) just for a reason. Sometimes, it is difficult for us to learn things but if we leave them in mid way, we might end up regretting that why did I not finish *that thing*!! You really do not want that!! So, do whatever you really want to unless it comes to hurting people. Regret is one of the worse things in life.

Finances

So, this is the most tricky part. The more money we have, the more we covet. So, unless you are really below the poverty line and earning your wages on a daily basis and living a hand to mouth existence which obviously you are not, since you are lucky enough to surf the internet and read, there is really no need to stress about money.

In fact, there is something in what Rhoda Byrnes says. The law of attraction. What we think becomes the reality of our lives! So, yes, if you think you are poor, you will get more poor but if you think you are comfortable enough, you would attract more money :) Positivity is extremely important.

So, these are somethings for which being concerned or sad is actually very useless in life. Instead, direct that energy to being more positive and do something good instead. And, do not forget What You Think Will Happen So Always Think Good and Well.

So, what do you think are the other useless things in life to worry about?

5 Simple Diet Tips to keep my family Healthy which you can also follow {Health}

Lately, being the sole caretaker of the house and our meal plans, I have started drifting towards the easy and not-necessarily healthy meals. Breakfast is proving more difficult to plan in the long run. It looks like a mess menu with 7 days with different breakfasts repeated without break week after week which is really monotonous.

I have not yet been able to tackle this breakfast issue because of my laziness as well but some of the healthier things I have been able to incorporate in our routine has definitely improved our health overall. Unfortunately, hubs does not take eggs so the protein has to be made up from somewhere else which is as yet I am unsure of.

One Apple a Day keeps Cravings Away

One good thing hubs has is not munching and eating unnecessarily. He has a limited appetite when compared to my voracious one. And, he also has a very limited meal needs. I am the one who needs variety and I so wish there was someone at my beck and call.

Anyways, so to make our breakfasts more fulfilling and due to lack of time to include fruit in any other meal, we take one apple per day during the breakfast. As a rule, I would recommend the fruit at the end of the breakfast so as to help cleanse the teeth as well but eating fruits on empty stomach is also a good idea!!

Good Ol' Dalia or Oats

Did I tell you I suffer from borderline cholesterol? Yup and what else can come to my rescue but the oats. Yes, I love dalia as well. I did not use to like it much but over the years palates have changed. If you are taking oats, I would suggest you to go sugarless way but then considering even I do not find it palatable, a bit of sugar can do no harm.

Lets go nutty

I love nuts - cashews or walnuts or almonds. I do go easy on the raisins and dates and pistas and all other dry fruits. But, I totally love pine nuts. We used to get loads of them in Simla from our friends (the fresh produce) but if you go to buy them in the market, you really do not find a fresh produce.

Anyways, either chop your nuts and store them or powder and store them and sprinkle them on the oats, dalia, sweets, salads, smoothies, milk shakes and what not? Best way to get omegas and good fats. Not only that, I have a huge amount of flax seeds sitting at home. Eating them raw is manageable but I am sure most would hate it so roast them and powder them in small batches and finish within a week or 10 days

Snacking

As much as I love my gol gappas and aloo tikkis, they do not taste yummy unless you are in the right mood and then I am so lazy that getting ready to go out is a huge task. Instead, I can grab a sandwich or something else made at home. In fact, I have been gorging on roasted lotus seeds. I love them and I love chat masala so mix the two and a yummy and filling snack is ready.

Similarly, I love bread and there is a host of dishes we can do with it. The simplest starts with assembling all the raw salad veggies in between bread slices and my favourite is to mix cheese and onion and salt and put the mix between the slices and toast it in sandwich maker. A few minutes and you get an absolutely lip-smacking dish ready. Well, that is only for cheese and onion lovers though!!

And, finally Tea, Herbal or Not!!

No, I am not much enamoured of the fact that I have become a tea-addict but sometimes when I have been in the mood I have noticed that drinking any herbal tea helps prevent cravings. Specially talking about ginger tea, it is absolutely amazing that how filling it feels after having it.
Also, a good accompaniment to herbal teas are multi-grain biscuits. Now, it depends on whether you make at home or buy them in the market. I, for one, love the Mcvities brand of biscuits.

These are a few healthy things which are there in my routine. Forget exercise, forget drinking water and forget proper sleep, none of them are really happening with me. So, if you are going through the same phase as I am, I would suggest t come up with short cut health tips which you can follow without disturbing your schedule too much.

So, what are your regular health care tips? Those small things which you do in your entire day which does not feel really important but can do wonders in the longer run. A small routine change, a simple inclusion of a meal plan or a brisk walk of 10 minutes - what is your secret?

5 Healthy Takeaways from "Perfect Digestion" by Deepak Chopra {Five Series}

Finally, I have also started reading some of the books which would be useful for the blog and me :) And, this one has scored high on my list. For a beginner health enthusiast, it can serve as one of the foundation books. It explains ayurveda in a simpler way than I could ever understand it till date. So, check out 5 new things I learned from the book.

One holistic system

Ayurveda treats our entire body as a single unit with each part having its own portion of intelligence as opposed to a machine controlled by a central engine. The nutrients from our food enhance the said intelligence. Ayurveda also believes that perfect digestion is the key to keep the body free of any disease.
Our thoughts, our imaginations, our feelings, desires and energies are as much "us" as are our fingernails, our blemishes and our digestive tracts.

Ayurvedic Doshas

Pitta characteristics so do check out if they concur with your nature!

Ayurveda understands a body as a part of three doshas - Vata, Kapha and Pitta.

Vata - controls movement like breathing, blood circulation, food passing through the digestive tracts, nerve impulses sent to and received from the brain.

Pitta - represents metabolism or digestion like processing food, air and water and facilitate proper intellectual functioning.

Kapha - governs body structure, holds cells together and forms muscles, fat, bones and sinew, also governs digestive fluids int he body.

Everyone has all 3 doshas in equal measures but some imbalances in the body may lead to one or other dosha dominating over the others in which case the said dosha must be pacified and balanced . Our body is in a harmonious state when all these three doshas are in perfect balance.

Digestion is considered a heating process in Ayurveda which is why it is denoted by the agni or digestive fire
  • Too high digestive fire means pitta dosha which leads to excessive appetite.
  • Too low digestive fire means kapha dosha which leads to low energy and weight gain.
  • Too variable digestive fire means vata dosha which leads to extreme hunger or loss of appetite.
  • Perfect digestive fire in which all doshas are balanced.

Kapha characteristics so do check out if they concur with your nature!

Small Intestine and Its Role

Small intestine is one the major organs where the maximum digestion and extraction of the intelligence from the foods happens. To keep it healthy,
  • eat variety of foods everyday
  • foods should not be over-cooked or raw
  • foods must not be too hot or too cold
That is why ice cold water is not a preferable option, as much you might crave it!!

Spice to eat to keep the digestive system in healthy order - black pepper, ginger and nutmeg.

Vata characteristics so do check out if they concur with your nature!

Ama and Ojas

When the body is in perfect harmonious state, it produces a biochemical called Ojas which represents the positive flow of energy in the body. It means the body is in complete harmony with the mind.

A complete opposite to this harmonious state is when the body feels sluggish. A sticky biochemical called Ama is produced in such a state. It can be due to improper lifestyle, improper diet or improper digestion.

Signs of ama production in the body - lethargy, feeling of  heaviness, weakness, weak immunity, fatigue, emotional instability, low energy levels.

Visible sign - white coating on the tongue which is also present throughout the digestive canals of the body. That is why tongue scraping should be done right after brushing your teeth.

How to eliminate Ama from the body?

  • Eat in a settled and quiet atmosphere where there is no television or talking.
  • Rest quietly for a few minutes after a meal to begin the digestive process in a effortless way.
  • Always eat while sitting. it helps the body relax.
  • Do not eat while upset. Wait for a few minutes to stabilize your emotions and then start eating.
  • Do not overeat. Always eat only 3/4th of your total capacity. leave eating when you feel almost full and still feel light.
  • Always avoid cold drinks or foods. Cold freezes the digestive fires and may lead to creation of ama.
  • Always eat slowly. After a bite, chew and wait till you swallow it before taking another bite.
  • Do not eat till your preceding meal is digested. It takes 3-6 hours for the previous meal to digest so if you feel heavy but crave something to eat, snack on a fruit or any warm beverage.
  • Always eat fresh food
  • Drink hot water throughout the day, as often as possible, to dissolve the ama in your body.

sort of diet you should maintain according to your specific dosha

6 Ayurvedic Tastes

Ayurveda identifies 6 tastes in order of digestion - sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent. It is important to incorporate all these tastes in all our meals throughout the day. And, one should eat them in their order of digestion as specified.

For example, sweet should be eaten before anything sour which should be eaten before a salty dish which should precede a pungent one which should precede bitter and lastly, follow with an astringent. That is why dessert should be taken first and salad should be the last meal.

Have you read the book? Do you think digestion is the key element to our well-being?

5 reasons for Anal or Rectal Burning or Itching and How to Treat It! {Five Series}

Healthy Diet eases every Health Problem!

Hey All!! I know I disappeared again! Even I am tired with my habits but I shall surely elaborate on those reasons in some other post. For now, I came across this extremely important topic which I wanted to discuss. So, anything which has to do with the genitalia is a generally embarrassing topic to discuss and many times it is overlooked health aspect.

Sometimes when you are passing out stool, you might feel burning sensation or sometimes when you have a change in diet or hydration levels, the skin there might be prone to itching. Whenever you face such situations, it is generally the symptom for anal or rectal burning and inflammation. Let me discuss a few of the causes for this problem.

Too Spicy Diet

This is one of the most important causes for any kind of change in your body. When you start eating too spicy foods or too much of peppers or hot sauces, the chemicals in them can irritate the skin near the rectum and cause it to inflame. Also, a lot of caffeine and sugary foods can also lead to this condition. So, this is the first thing you need to cross out of your check-list.

Skin Diseases

Do you suffer from psoriasis or seborrhoea or dermatitis? If yes, you can also get those chronic dry skin conditions at the rectum area. Also, less hydration in skin or dry skin can also lead to irritation at the rectal area so drink a lot of water and keep the area hydrated by using hot or cold compress. That helps soothe the irritation there!!

Other Internal Body Problems

Presence of pin worms or diarrhoea or constipation or any other issue in the small intestine or anal or rectal disorders like piles can lead to anal irritation. Also, if the tissues are torn at those areas or abnormal skin growth at that area or using antibiotics can also lead to inflammation.

Medical Problems

Well, another reason may be you are suffering from diabetes, anemia, inflammatory bowel disease, jaundice, leukamia, lymphoma, thyroid disease so check out if you have any of the above conditions.

Lack of Hygiene

Not washing the area properly or using too drying soaps and liquids can also irritate the area. A gentle cleanser or plain water should be used on the genitals and the basic clothes must be washed and changed on a regular basis. Also, excessive aggressive cleaning after bowel movements should be avoided. When using jets or bidets, make sure that the pressure of water is gentle enough and not too strong to hurt the skin.

Solution - Banana

Banana is rich in potassium. Potassium is an astringent which shrinks or tightens the body tissue (Source). And, during the rectal inflammation, the tissues of the rectum also become inflamed.

So, do you think any of the above may lead to your problems? Are you or have you ever suffered from this problem? And, how did you treat it?

From the Archives : Why do we get Headaches? {Health}

Have you ever wondered what causes the headaches. I have had headaches since 1998 as far as I can remember and it is definitely never a great experience. Instead, I feel like my head will come out of the skull. I have always wondered what causes headache. The reason which I knew was less blood supply to the parts of the head. Yes.

If you are suffering from any kind of headache without having any ailment like cold, sinus, any kind of flu or fever or any other medical problem like tumor, it is just because you have less blood supply in your scalp and its nerves. The blood vessels are constricted and reduce the flow. This starts right from the neck blood vessels.

Time for reality check. I would like to share some issues regarding headaches which probably many of you are not aware of. At least, I came to know of them today itself. Coffee and sweets are two things which can cause or increase the intensity of headaches. This is because of the caffeine content in the coffee and chocolates. Caffeine decreases the blood supply to the head by constricting the blood vessels.

And, the other sweets increase the blood sugar level which in turn also decreases the blood supply by constricting the blood vessels. Other foods which might trigger headaches are processed food, foods high in sugar, cheese, food additives, alcohol, carbonated beverages, red wine, Chinese food and even citrus fruits and bananas.

You can also be sensitive to other things which you include in your diet so keep an eye open. There are many other factors too which cause headaches like stress, lack of sleep, bright lights, weather changes, loud noises and strong odors. Wearing a hair style which pulls your hair tightly or tying a hair band too tightly can also trigger headaches. It is best to leave your hair free in that case or use a clip to just catch hold of your hair.

Mensuration cycles is again one of the common reasons for headache in women. Eye sight is also a very big catalyst in headaches. Excess exposure to sun is also a cause for headaches.

The lesson to be taken from all this is that you should be conscious of what you are eating and doing so that you can trace the reason of your headaches. Anything can trigger a headache within an hour of its consumption so keeping a little check on eating patterns can help you discern the reason and get rid of headaches easily.

If you would not do so, these headaches may easily develop into migraines. I am sure many of you would really not be aware that you are suffering from migraines. One of the most common symptoms of migraines is a nauseating feeling accompanies by vomiting. Some headaches are so severe that they get resolved only after vomiting.

If you are sensitive to bright lights or noises or odors, you should seek help from a doctor and clearly outline your case of headaches. Sometimes, doctors might also just ignore your complain of headaches saying it is normal or it is due to eyesight (if you have one). Be prepared for this. If you have such experience, try to find patterns on your own.

Chances are that you yourself would be able to figure out the cause of your headaches. Sometimes, it is as simple as sitting a lot before a computer or watching too much of television or even too much of reading. Such things can easily be improved by changing a little of the lifestyle.

The best remedy for headaches is to lie down in a dark and quiet place. Instead of going for medications, you can also use balms (which you can apply on forehead) or get some to do a scalp or body massage for you.

So, what do you do for your headache?

From the Archives : Use ginger to get rid of acne {DIY}

PS: Everyone has been asking me about how to get rid of acne so this is an old and a very useful post on the same topic. Hope this helps :)

Ginger is a very useful spice. And, it has great anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties along with its astringent properties which comes handy when you are dealing with a stubborn problem like acne. Acne can come in form of pimples, outbreaks or even worse. So, let us discuss what all you can do from ginger.

Ginger is great as a drink every day. Yes, it is pretty bitter in taste but it improves your skin from inside. It helps your body fight the free radicals and keeps your digestive system in order. It cleans out the toxins from your system. Ginger improves the blood circulation throughout the body and also cleans out the blood. Not only this, it also improves the skin tone and helps in getting rid of blemishes and spots.

Squeeze out a little of ginger juice and apply it on your face or just the acne-affected areas and see your skin improve in a matter of days. It works very well for unexpected outbreaks and pimples. You can also use the juice as a face mask for blemished and sun-burnt skin. And, you can also help your body by including this spice in your daily diet.

A little every day goes a long way. You can also use a little ginger in your spinach-lettuce juice in the morning. Pass a small slice of ginger along with spinach and lettuce while making the juice. It would give a spicy taste to your drink. And, not to mention, ginger is really good for throat infections, dry coughs and colds.

So, have you used ginger on your acne ever? Does it help?

From the Archives : Do you clean your tongue? {Oral Hygiene}

 photo dep_6109356-Oral-hygiene-cleaning-teeth-for-beautiful-woman_zpsb1aeb0b7.jpg

I wanted to talk about how to detox your body and then, I came across an article which said that tongue cleaning was a habit which has been carried out since centuries and it actually has a great importance for our body according to Ayurveda.

I was a little surprised to read that because I had always thought of it as a habit which has to be carried daily after we brush our teeth and I thought its importance was limited only to hygienic purposes. But, what I came to learn about was that it is one of the ways to help our body get rid of toxins.

The question which pops to our minds is How?
During our sleep, body gets rid of all the toxins in our body, right. So, how do all these toxins get out of our body? Sweat, urination or excretion. Yes. But, some of the toxins also get deposited as a film on our tongue. So comes the ritual of tongue scraping in the morning to remove this film of toxins.

The bacteria present in these toxins are also the cause of bad breath. And, they prevent our taste buds from getting a proper taste of the food. How? Because, they get deposited continuously and if not cleaned, the deposits can become pretty thick and the food we eat is not actually tasted by our taste buds.

Ultimately, we do not get the feeling of satiety which the taste buds trigger to the brain because taste buds do not know that we are eating. So, we end up overeating and gaining weight in the process. So, I hope you realize how important it is for us to clean our tongues everyday.

Now, how do you clean your tongue? Using a plastic tongue scraper or your brush? Well, both of the methods are not advisable. Plastic is not good for health and the brush actually does not clean the tongue. It just disturbs the bacteria and sometimes, the bacteria can begin breeding in the brush too which is definitely not good for your dental health.

So, you should use a tongue scraper made of stainless steel or brass to avoid toxicity from metals. Be gentle while using the scraper but firmly remove the debris from your mouth. Hold the scraper on both sides and place it at the back of the tongue near the tonsils and start scraping from there. Repeat the movements 5 times. Clean the scraper properly and disinfect it occasionally using baking soda.

Today's Lesson: Detox your body by making tongue scraping a habit.

So, do you clean your tongue?

5 daily tasks which Stress you without your realizing them {Five Series}

Like all working couples, we often get very minimal quality time with each other so we took a weekend off from everything including our house and spent the time in a cozy resort. But, still, it was not the least refreshing for us. That made me think what is wrong with me?

And, then, there was a dawning realization, may be the short vacation we took was really not well-planned which stressed me out! Yes, it was an adhoc event which just happened and I was really happy it happened but I would have been more happy if everything went according to me.

Yes, I know its making me sound like a control freak and probably I am one but this is just an example of what can be wrong with even a simple thing of taking a holiday from our regular life. So, stress can really creep up on to our lives in ways we can NOT imagine. It has really become a part of us now a days.

Technology

This makes me soooo happy to say this out loud, "Guys, lose your phone sometimes,let the laptop crash, get sometime for yourself". And, of course, sad at the same instant because I can not do that whenever I want. No, not because I have a blog to run but because I can not stay away from the blog.

Networking and media is addictive and at the same time stressful just like our day work. The only difference is some of us have the leisure of leaving office work in the office at sometimes where as technology follows us everywhere just like the poster pug of Hutch ads, anyone remembers??

Answering to the constantly pinging whatsapp or BBM messages to checking out the latest status of our friends to texting the boyfriends sweet nothings at night, it has become second nature to sleep with our phones instead of husbands! And, this disturbs not only our sleep pattern but peace of mind. Constant chaos reigns in the mind.

Cluttered House / Desk / Bed / Floor
This has to be on top of my list, honestly. Because, you might not be able to chuck technology but I can but I can NOT live in a mess. An unmade bed, unwashed utensils, an absent maid, sofa covers peeled off, the layer of fine dust which can not be vaccum-ed on the show pieces, everything disturbs me.

And, if all the cleaning falls on to one single person, it is practically impossible for one to manage all of this, even after keeping the office and blog out of the equation. Nah, do not think it means I have THE perfect house! I am lazy and I can sometimes leave a sink of dirty utensils just as it is.

Incomplete Tasks
This one plays on and on in your mind like a tape, at least it does for me. When I have some TO-DO list, I keep on mentally recollecting it unless and until I really start on it and me being the best procrastinator, I can not see a way of getting rid of the list any time sooner.

Not working with a Plan
Whatever you are doing, your office work or blogging or writing a novel or painting, anything which is done without a plan or a goal becomes very frustrating because you do not know what to do next and you do not know what to expect from that work, whatever amount of effort put in.

The Vibrations around You
Well, this is more tricky. The aura surrounding you plays a huge role in what will your reaction be to it. Any big change in life or other's attitudes or even your own causes a lot of butterfly effect in your lifestyle, even though it might not be apparent immediately.

What, in your opinion, other factors cause stress?

Do you suffer from perpetual hunger or nausea? {Health}

Sometimes, our healths go haywire and we have no idea!! And, then, we have certain symptoms going on in the body which we hardly understand. When I was suffering from some of such symptoms, I asked my mom for help and understood a little bit about understanding my body needs. So, let me share my experiences.

Perpetual Hunger
This is one of the major problems I found when there was a change in my diet. I am used to eating more of grains and veggies and less of carbs but in between I used to have more of carbs and less of everything else so I was always left with a feeling of hunger even though I would have a stomach full of food.

If you feel hungry even after having a proper meal, remember to change a little of your diet and inclue more of proteins than usual. Proteins make you feel full and helps in controlling cravings. Also, perpetual hunger might be a symptom of diabetes so make sure you get your tests done.

Feeling of nausea
This one is a symptom for high blood pressure, as told by my mom. She also suffers from the same issue. And, you might also be really hungry because of which you might be feeling nausea-tic. Also, nausea is a symptom for migraines and, of course, pregnancy.

Going to bathroom continuously
This is one thing which again I found is quite annoying when there is a diet change. Remember that this might also be due to excess of fluids and also, it might be a symptom of, again, diabetes

Joint Pains or Body Pains
This can be due to extreme weakness or lack of Vitamin D or even due to improper nutrition. So, you might really want to look into what is bothering your body.

So, these are few of the symptoms I can remember on the tip of my fingers. Do take care of your health and learn to listen to your body. And, do not forget to go to a doc!

Have you ever faced such symptoms?

I am also deficient in Vitamin D!! {Health}

Guess my surprise on hearing this!! When all the while I used to marvel at how someone can be deficient in the most available vitamin, I found out that I am one of the lot. Like one of the reader mentioned in her comment, my Vitamin levels are almost at 3-4 out of the scale of 30. I came to know of this when I got my complete blood test done. But, I have yet to consult a doctor on this!!

Vitamin D deficiency has become so prevalent now. Even my FIL suffers with the same and apparently someone told him that his knee pains are due to the same reason. In fact, my boss was diagnosed with extreme low levels of Vitamin D and was given shots for it. And, since then, he has been feeling much better with high levels of energy and lesser other health issues.

Now, if you feel tired all the time or drowsy and suddenly start feeling a lot of joint pains and aches, you might want to go to a doc and get yourself tested for Vitamin D. Of course, do not rush to doc right away but analyze how your body is feeling. If you know your body well, you will know when something is wrong with it.

Have you been tested for Vitamin D?

Does milk increase the weight? {Health}

Ok, so this is a question for you all! What do you think? Milk or eating dairy products everyday increase the weight?

Well, in my opinion, yes it does! I have been without milk for almost a year or more and I had noticed a drastic decrease in my weight. Also, its not only my experience but one of the guy colleague who is literally paranoid about weight attests the fact.

Well, some do say that it actually depends on person to person as to what contributes in their weight increase or decrease. To a lot of extent, that is absolutely true!

But, when it comes to milk, there are quite a lot of milk types - whole milk, toned, skimmed and what not! Honestly, I can't even understand what toned, doubled toned and skimmed are for but anyways they are different levels of milk processing.

Now, whole milk has maximum amount of calories and skimmed non-fat milk has least amount. And, many people are used to adding sugar in milk so that adds extra calories to the body thus resulting in weight gain.

On the other hand, it comes as a boon for underweight people. Drinking two glasses of milk a day can improve your weighty issues. Also, milk mainly contains proteins which improve the muscle mass. So, a healthy dose of exercise is required to fight off that muscle mass in unhealthy weight gain.

Now before you start discontinuing milk, let me also state that since it is rich in proteins and helps in building the muscles, not taking milk on a regular basis can actually leave you weak and without energy in the long run. I have myself undergone the situation. I was wan and weak and irritable all the time!

So, the best bet is to drink a glass of skimmed milk. But, also remember that excess processing of milk actually strips off the nutrients! So, honestly, I have no idea what to drink and what not. I as usual do not mind a lot of fat so I love whole milk :D And, btw, I should also add that some people claim milk and dairy products help lose weight!

What about you? You like skimmed milk? Or, you prefer to do the no-milk show?

Should you eat curd/yogurt at night? {Health}

Well, so you would already be aware that dinner should be the lightest meal of the day! But since I miss a decently filling lunch, I miss all the important ingredients like curd and such which I make up for in my dinner.

But, few months back some body warned me not to eat curd at night. That was because curd at night in winters is extremely cooling for the body. Also, curd is heavy on the stomach and doesn't get digested easily!

And for people suffering with sinus issues, curd at night can lead to congestion and breathlessness as it pours the toxins into the lungs (that is not quite literally right but a metaphor)! Also, it can interfere with sleep.

Ayurvedically as well, one is suggested to avoid curd at night. But if at all you are interested in having curd, mix a pinch of pepper powder. That's what I read somewhere! Also, it is best if you can manage buttermilk instead but curd mixed with sugar is a complete no no.

Do you eat curd at night? I shall mix pepper powder from now on!!
