Its Just Life Vol. 1 - Are you really happy?

So, writing about life is a kind of stress buster for me but it is not something which I can do on a daily basis. I had started my other blog for this sole purpose but unfortunately, I am not able to maintain it so I thought I might as well start a series here! Hope you guys like the diversity and respond to it positively. And, also, please note that I am not very experienced in putting my feelings into words, it can all sound very muddled :D

So, once upon a time in my life, I went to this astrologer! Trust me, don't ever make that mistake in your life. I hate the entire breed and worst part, you can never say no to relatives so you end up having no choice! And, this guy astrologer observes me for quite sometime. 

And, then, the first thing he ends up asking me was "Are you Happy?" I have always thought myself to be a pretty much happy-to-go-lucky kinda gal so I very happily answer yes as if it is foolish to doubt such a thing! And, the interrogation carries on. How do you know a person is happy?

I say a happy person has a very positive and vibrant aura. Ok, yup, a very heavy answer. He was like yes, the person smiles a lot which you were not all the while I observed you. I was stunned. There was quite a lot of truth in that. I had been under a lot of stress lately. 

And, since that day, I have always been trying to be consciously aware of whether I am frowning a lot, am under a lot of stress or worrying about unnecessary things!

So, Are YOU REALLY Happy?

Garnier Daily Care Gentle Cleansing Milk {Product Review}

So, on the days you do not want to write anything serious, product reviews can be a boon but let me make it very clear when you are doing a serious review, writing the review itself is a huge issue!! Anyways, coming back to the product, I am not a fan of cleansing milks because they get empty very soon :(

This cleansing milk is very thin and spreads easily on the face and neck and arms easily. It does remove the makeup pretty well. I can not really talk about kajal, though. But, then, kajal is probably the most stubborn in my stash except for mascara.

So, that's pretty much my review of the product. Btw, I want to leave you pondering on something which I want to discuss soon enough. What is the difference between face washes and cleansers and cleansing milks? Do you think one can be used in place of another?

My Hair Diary - July 2013

So, I am again pretty late in putting up the hair diary post this month. Anyways, Suhani had a few questions for me when she read the last hair diaries. So, lemme just answer them for everyone's benefits.

Does oil not attract dirt?

Yes, it does. But, I use only 5 drops at max so I doubt it would do any harm but point taken!

How do I do the scalp treatment?

I take a few drops of oil (2-3) and rub the finger tips against each other to spread the oil and then massage the scalp and then pass the hand over the strands to spread a light film over the strands, especially on the ends!

Ok, there is one point which I wanted to discuss. Why SLS-free shampoos? Actually, I had read it long back but I think there is something in that. SLS makes the hair very dry which is something well known but apparently it also impedes hair growth. I have to say that I have definitely noticed my hair to be in better health since I have shifted my shampoos. And, I do believe my hair has dried up a bit in this one month of change of shampoo!!

Ok, a day back I also read that changing shampoos is good for hair because it keeps on changing the chemical composition of hair. Being used to one shampoo alters the composition in only way which is why you do not notice that bounce after a bit of getting used to any product. Well, honestly, I have no idea if it is true or not but if you do have 3-4 choices of great shampoos, go for it!!

When you repeatedly use one shampoo, you are altering your hair’s chemical balance and changing the results of the shampoo. Obviously we want to see results from our shampoo, but if you don’t alternate them, then your hair’s chemical balance will work against you and you will see different results with the same shampoo over time. In a sense, you are changing the effect of the shampoo by using it for too long. In certain instances, the effect can be harmful to your hair. (Source)

Clear Nourishing Scalp Care Anti-Dandruff Shampoo {Product Review}

As you all know that I have been using an SLS-free shampoo since like 6 months at the least, using an SLS shampoo was something I was not very comfortable with but I had received it for review so I had to do it. And, generally, anti-dandruff shampoos tend to be quite drying.

So, let me start by saying that I think this product was not very drying. I did take care of my hair by regularly massaging the scalp and using scalp and leave-in treatments but sometimes I just got too lazy and did nothing to my hair except washing.

And, suffice it to say, my hair was in a good condition though a little frizzy. But, that it is to be expected when you do not use conditioner or anything, right? I do have curly to wavy hair and nope, no increase in split ends either. The texture of the product is very creamy and it did not feel very harsh on the scalp.

My scalp also did not feel really dry or anything!! I can not really say that how it affects dandruff since I do not have any but overall, my experience with this shampoo (at least twice a week for a month) was fine only. So, yes, this can be a good choice if you are looking at over the counter shampoos.

Just Gossip Vol. 22 - Did you "Get on the Train baby"?

So, I watched Chennai Express on Saturday. And, I have to say that it was totally unexpected. I had gone into the theater with a sense of foreboding and I was so sure I would come back with a headache and the reviews were not of much help!

But, I loved the movie except that romance angle which is totally boring, honestly! Yeah, that from King Khan, the king of Romance. The movie belong to Deepika entirely, in my opinion. Totally loved the cinematography and the Thaliva song. That's a treat to watch coz Deepika is looking at her best :)

And, what else I loved. I loved her half-sarees in the movie. They were simple and really pretty. Of course, she has a figure which can show everything well but still. So, just check them out here.  The pics are blurry but still you can make out some of the dresses.

Thanking You All!!!

So, finally, I spent the entire Eid holiday and got done with answering all the comments!! Thank you all so much for so many comments and I am really sorry for not being very regular at that. But, for all the queries you all sent me and questions you have asked, I have replied each and everyone. Let me know if something is left out. Also, now a days I am being very regular with checking mails and answering the queries in the mails so feel free to send over your doubts. 

Also, it has been a week that I have started updating the Perfect Skin Care for you facebook page with small tidbits and other things so feel free to join me there. Also, I would like to mention that just yesterday, the facebook page crossed the 1k mark and I have published over 1100 posts in these 3 years!! And, the fourth anniversary is already coming up in December. So, thank you all for supporting the blog and being with me all the time!! Hope to see more of you :)

Blogging Series Vol. 12 - My Story of Blog Monetization!

So, two days back I get a mail from Roshni asking me how did I go about monetizing the blog. Ohk, so a long story short, content is the king whenever it comes to anything with blogging!! Now, let me start with my story.

Adsense and Infolinks

I had applied for adsense (January 2010) right when I had started blogging (December 2009). Yes, I was ignorant that the blog needed to be 6 months old and few other restrictions when it came to adsense approval of blogs from India. So, obviously, they refused.

Then, infolinks came my way and it was easy to get accepted so there it was. I had started earning money right from the start of blogging. But, don't be buoyed, it was a measly 1$ per month or something like that and it took almost a year and half (June 2011 to be precise and I had integrated it in January 2010) to reach the threshold of 50$. But, fortunately, all time I did not falter and was very regular with blogging and slowly the traffic got better.

Adsense and Chitika

In the mean time, I had again tried for adsense after making sure that all the clauses were fulfilled. My blog was 6 months old and I had almost 400-500 posts up and had a decent traffic. Again I was rejected :(

So, I signed up with chitika. It wasn't really a great earner so I removed it quite soon. 

Finally Adsense!

And, suddenly in the start of January 2012, adsense accepted me just like that. The year had started on a good note. And, adsense is quite a good source for earning money according to me except the getting accepted business.

I have to mention that first year has been quite up and down in terms of money but it was decent.  

Private Advertising Networks

And, in this year, I have been contacted by private advertising networks which are also turning out profitable. In fact, they quite compliment the adsense income. I would not mention them because I am not really sure how their application and acceptance standards are.

Final Thoughts...

After so much struggle, I have understood one thing. Ultimately, it is the content which drives traffic which drives advertisers which brings money. Also, another thing I have learned is more content you publish is directly proportional to money you earn. 

This post is just about how I tried to monetize my blog. I shall in some weeks write about how to monetize your blog, some of its basic principles and other networks and ways to monetize but one thing you already know - content is the king!! And, patience the key.
